VERMONT HAITI PROJECT
PROGRAM:  Duchity Vocational Training Center

PROGRAM MISSION: 

1.     To provide an opportunity for rural Haitians to be educated and employed, without having to move to the city, and leave or displace their family.

2.     To promote business development in rural Haiti

3.     To teach career training and job skills in a variety of fields, among them:  welding, woodworking, auto mechanics.

·      The survey and purchase of land in the village of Duchity

·      Construction of main lodge, composting toilets, and perimeter wall

·      Installation of solar electricity

·      Continued renovation of main lodge

·      Construction of first exterior “classroom” workshop *

·      Recruitment of students and staff

·      Ongoing development of budget and business model

* projected being funded and spearheaded by another USA based organization

FUTURE:

·      Start first class in fall, 2014 (welding)

·      Construct additional classrooms

·      Solicit supplies

·      Hire additional staff

·      Become a self-sustaining, successful Haitian business

Vermont Haiti Project, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501-C3 organization:  EIN #- 27-0214989. It is the policy of Vermont Haiti Project that the organization will never compensate any directors or officers. Volunteers on our organized work trips to Haiti directly pay their own travel, lodging and incidental expenses, and do not remunerate the Vermont Haiti Project in any way for participation.
