While the list of needs in Haiti is immense, VHP has earmarked the following items as fundamental in continuing the mission for our self-sustaining programs:
Ecole Foyer d'Espoir, the VHP sponsored school and community center in Port au Prince.
Support a child for a year: $300 per student ( Includes tuition, uniforms, supplies)
Support a teacher's salary: $1500 (annual salary)
Support school lunch program for 210 people: $500 per month = $5000
Vocational Training Center in Duchity
Expected cost: $200,000
VHP expects to open this center in the rural mountain village in fall, 2012. Land has been purchased and the first buidling- a dormitory- has been constructed. Plans are under way for the construction of classrooms, and a community center. The center will train and educate local residents, eliminating the need for them to move to Port au Prince.
Bio-sand filtration project.
Each water filter costs $100.00
Cost covers the cost of the filter, and a salary for our Haitian partners to construct the filter, and install it in a family’s home.
