The Vermont Haiti Project, Inc. was formed in 2007. It is the formal extension of the former "Project Haiti", which, for 18 years, had been involved with humanitarian services in a rural Haitian mountain region north of Port-au-Prince.
VHP functions as a grassroots, volunteer organization whose operations are evolving and expanding.
Our goals involve sustainability and capacity building through people-to-people partnerships, helping to create solutions from the inside out-- seeking to develop healthier communities and cultural exchange opportunities for all.
We schedule trips several times per year, ranging in length from one to two weeks. Our volunteer makeup typically consists of a wide age mix, including college students. Groups vary from four to ten people.
Vermont Haiti Project, Inc. is funded by donations, and operates mainly with Vermont-based volunteers, although we are happy to include out-of-state participants. We are a wholly not-for-profit organization.
We welcome anyone from any walk of life who has an interest in participating in, or supporting our projects- either in Haiti or in Vermont.
