Details of expenditures in 2010:
Earthquake relief: $19,493 used for tarps, tents, building supplies, medical supplies, transportation, food, direct support to Haitians within the VHP constellation, and the temporary relocation of Maria and her family (director of Ecole Foyer D’Espoir).
Ecole Foyer d’Espoir –EFE (primary education): $14,965 for rebuilding and teachers salaries and supplies (this included tents and tarps for post-earthquake operation of the school).
Desab Clinic: $13,162 for salaries, supplies and medicine.
Water purification: $8,552. 19 Bio-Sand water filters were damaged in the earthquake and were replaced. 10 filters are placed in homes each month along with education on their proper use and hygiene. Hygiene education has been expanded to help with the cholera outbreak.
Duchity Organization for Vocational Education –(“DOVE”): $9,667 for beginning development of the vocational school. The land has been cleared and a stone wall constructed.
Truck for VHP use in Haiti (“Tony’s Truck”): $6,750 for joint purchase of Ford Expedition. $3,250 remaining from the $10,000 donation is being held in an account for maintenance and repair. Administrative costs: $2,281 for postage, printing, copying, telecommunication, bank fees. Fundraising costs: $204 for mailings.
Vermont Haiti Project provided fiscal sponsorship for the Vermont Haiti Relief Teams (now VMRT –Vermont Medical Response Teams) from January 2010 to May 2010: $27,186.
Vermont Haiti Project began providing fiscal sponsorship on July 26, 2010 for the Haiti Emergency Relief Organization –HERO: $1,551
Planned expenditures in 2011:
- $8,600 for EFE (salaries, supplies, state exams)
- $15,500 for the Desab medical clinic (basic needs, more medication, more dental care)
- $8,000 for the bio-sand water filter project
- $20,000 for construction DOVE’s first school building
- $600 for the DOVE project planner/manager in Haiti
- $600 for the overseer of VHP projects in Haiti
- $4,000 estimated for administrative costs (including paying for a tax accountant)
- $200 for fundraising costs
- $11,000 for HERO projects
