The teachers are the backbone of the Duchity Vocational Training center - providing their students with life-changing educational opportunities. The school is supported in part by tuition, but mostly by contributions from VHP and its donors. Your assistance can go a long way towards insuring that these fine teachers can continue to serve the school. For $250 a month you can support the salary of one teacher.
Want to help, but can't go that amount alone? Why not gather 10 friends and for 25 dollars a month you can support the salary of one teacher! Running a race? Why not find sponsors to contribute for each mile to support our teachers? The ideas are endless. No matter how the funds are raised, VHP, our dedicated teachers, and their students will appreciate your support.

Francky Polyte, 38, Director of School and Construction Design
"When I left my home in Duchity I was always looking for a way to come back and share what I learned with my community. Mr. Despi, the founder of this school, was my inspiration to come home and teach."
Francky Polyte has a degree in civil engineering from American University of Science in Haiti, but it was the education courses he took that changed him. He believes education is critical for the future of Haiti. Teaching Construction Design, Francky is helping his students estimate construction materials for building projects and evaluate different building materials; eventually Francky hopes to teach more advanced programs after his students learn the basics.

Ely Berel, 38, Technical Agriculture
“When I was a little child, I always loved to be in the garden - this has not changed. My family taught me how to grow food and then I went to University and my focus was how to grow more food for Haiti.”
Ely Berel’s classes are both theory and practice. In the fields behind the school, his students receive a test plot to grow in: 60 percent of what they grow goes to the school and the other 40 percent they can keep for themselves. Ely was born in Duchity and wants to help develop agriculture in the area believing that local farmers can produce more to not only feed themselves, but the rest of Haiti as well; his students are at the heart of this vision. When asked what his favorite vegetable is, he responded with the tomato, “When the plants go into fruit, they looks so very beautiful. The sight always warms my heart.”

Doudou Dorvilier 24 Construction Design Technology
“I am younger than many of my students, but that is not a problem… I just happen to know more than they do right now, but all of them want to learn and we must all work together.”
Doudou Dorvillier teachers Construction Design Technology, learning the trade from his father. His desire to teach in Duchity comes from his own learning experiences - Doudou had to leave his home to receive an education, but now he can help students receive an education in their home communities, telling us, “it is both a privilege and a responsibility to come home to teach what I can.” Doudou hopes that one day he can use his skills to build better hospitals for Haiti.
